The Ripley County Sheriff's Report details a series of incidents from Jan. 13-19, including thefts, arrests for controlled substances, vandalism, traffic stops, and domestic disturbances in Doniphan, Missouri.

On Jan. 13 at 12:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a complaint that several T-posts were stolen from a fence on a property on Hwy. 142 in Doniphan.

On Jan. 13 management at the Dollar General store on Hwy. 142 in Doniphan reported someone drove an ATV through a grassy area in front of the store, leaving deep ruts.

On Jan. 13 at 9:30 p.m., Edward Ormsby, 38, of Doniphan was arrested during a traffic stop on Hwy. 142E in Doniphan. Ormsby was booked in on charges of possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and speeding; and he was lodged in the Ripley County Jail.

On Jan. 14 at 3 a.m., deputies responded to U Hwy. in Doniphan for a report of gunshots in the area. No injury or damage was reported, and a search of the area yielded no suspects.

On Jan. 14 at 7 p.m., deputies responded to a deer struck by a vehicle on B Hwy. in Doniphan. The animal was euthanized humanely and it was released to the vehicle owner.

On Jan. 15 at 3 p.m., David Beaty, 69, of Doniphan and Judith Beaty, 60, of Doniphan were arrested at their residence on Ripley 160-W2. Both subjects were booked in on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and they were lodged in the Ripley County Jail.

On Jan. 15 at 4:15 p.m., a resident on Batten St. in Naylor reported a laptop computer and video games had been stolen from under a carport on their property.

On Jan. 15 at 6:45 p.m., deputies responded to a vacant commercial property on Hwy. 160W in Doniphan for a theft complaint. The property owner reported a vehicle parked beside the building had been vandalized and parts had been stolen from it. The vehicle had been parked there for some time, and the owner could not say when the damage and theft occurred.

On Jan. 16 at 1:06 p.m., Larissa Williams, 45, of Naylor was arrested during a traffic stop on Hwy. 142 E in Naylor. Williams was booked in on Jefferson County warrants for failure to appear on traffic offenses and she was released on bond.

On Jan. 17 at 11:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office received a complaint that someone poured sugar into fuel tanks of equipment parked on Ripley 160E-14.

On Jan. 17 at 1:05 p.m., Jimmie Marshall, 44, of Arkansas, was arrested during a traffic stop on Hwy 142 in Naylor. Marshall was booked in on a warrant for failure to appear on driving while suspended ($5,000 cash only bond) and he was lodged in the Ripley County Jail.

On Jan. 17 at 3:35 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a complaint that a calf was shot on a field on A Hwy.

On Jan. 17 at 8 p.m., a black 2008 Cadillac Escalade was impounded and towed from the scene of a traffic stop after it was determined the vehicle was not insured and the driver was not licensed. The driver was released at the scene with a traffic ticket for no proof of insurance.

On Jan. 17 at 6 p.m., an adult male was arrested at a residence on 160E in Doniphan. The adult victim later contacted the sheriff’s office and recanted their statement; and the suspect was released from custody. The investigation continues.

On Jan. 18 at 4:54 p.m., officers with the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, Doniphan Police Department, and the Fire Department responded to a call of an animal caught in a trap on Hwy. 160E in Doniphan. The animal was released and seemed to have no injury. The owner responded to a social media post, and the animal was released to the owner.

On Jan. 18 at 6 p.m., deputies responded to a car vs. deer accident on U Hwy. in Doniphan.

On Jan. 18 at 7:23 p.m., deputies responded to a residence on Ripley 142E-12 for a stolen trailer. The victim reported a trailer was stolen by an acquaintance. The trailer was recovered at the suspect’s property. At the time of this report the suspect had not been located.

On Jan. 18 at 9:40 p.m., a deputy responded to a residence on Crappie Ln. in Doniphan for a missing teenager. The juvenile was found nearby and was returned home.

On Jan. 18 at 10:24 p.m. deputies responded to a residence on 142E in Doniphan for a domestic disturbance. Both parties complained that the other had assaulted them. No charges were filed at the time of the call.

On Jan. 19 at 4:30 a.m., a deputy responded to a single-vehicle accident on Hwy. 142 in Doniphan. A car left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Ozark Border Electric was called to assess damage to the utility pole and the vehicle was towed from the scene. The accident investigation was turned over to the MSHP.

On Jan. 19 at 4:21 p.m., a white Chevrolet truck was impounded and towed from the scene of a traffic stop in Doniphan after it was determined the truck was not licensed or insured, and the driver’s license was revoked. The driver was released at the scene.
