Doniphan police respond to multiple incidents, including a customer threatening a store employee, a break-in with potential meth involvement, and a shoplifting attempt at a local store.

An officer was dispatched to Tractor Supply Jan. 21 in reference to an irate customer that had caused a disturbance, and then left the store.

The customer has an issue with one of the store employees, and while on the premises, the customer was heard making threats against her.

The manager requested that the customer be trespassed from the store.

An officer was dispatched Jan. 21 in reference to an animal at large which came into a woman’s yard, tried to bite her children and was trying to get at her dogs.

The officer noted the dog was gray with an orange collar but no tag. After several attempts the officer was able to get the dog to go leave the woman’s yard.

A man came into the police department Jan. 22 requesting an officer to accompany him to the home of his estranged wife for the purpose of getting his mail.

The woman claimed the man’s mail is being held at the post office; however, which later was found to be untrue.

The man was advised that recovery of his mail is a civil matter which he would need to turn over to his attorney.

An officer was dispatched Jan. 25 to Kegler St. in reference to a break in.

The caller reported arriving at the residence to find the door standing open and a bag of tools she had borrowed were missing. She noticed that also the breaker box had been tampered with and it appeared someone had kicked in a door.

The caller asked for extra patrol around the residence. Hours after the same caller contacted the department and provided information pointing to a male suspect, whom she stated texted her threatening to come by her house and “shoot up the place.”

She said the man told her he had shot up with meth that day and was done dealing with her. He also told her he was “strapping up” and would get into a shootout with the police.

Officers have increased patrol in the area. Photos taken at the scene and the woman’s statements were forwarded to the prosecutor.

An officer was dispatched Jan. 26 to Harps in reference to a shoplifter. A male suspect was observed putting two cans of “Kayak” chewing tobacco in his pocket.

The man attempted to evade contact by ducking down an aisle, but was confronted by the officer. The suspect admitted that he tried stealing “dip” but put it back. He led the officer to an end cap reached behind several items and pulled out the chewing tobacco.

The suspect was walked up to the manager’s office and advised to leave and not to come back into the store.
