An officer was dispatched Nov. 19 to West Summit in reference to an alleged attempted break-in.
A woman stated that a male subject she is wanting to avoid appeared at her residence was trying to break in to her apartment. She said she did not want to press charges or file an ex parte.
The subject was questioned and stated that the presumed victim had been messaging him all night wanting him to come over but when he shows up “she starts acting irate.”
He advised the officer he wanted nothing further to do with her and would avoid any messages from her.

An officer was dispatched Nov. 20 to assist a Ripley County Sheriff’s Deputy during an arrest on Crappie Lane.
According to reports a male subject was refusing to place his hands behind his back and the deputy had the subject at TASER point.
As the officer was responding the deputy contacted the department and stated he was able to detain the male subject after all.
The officer confirmed this at the scene, and exited when it was clear the deputy would not require any further assistance.

An officer was dispatched Nov. 23 to the area of Locust Street for a report of unrestrained dogs digging holes in a neighbor’s yard.
The reporting party stated this has been an ongoing issue and he wanted to file a complaint.
The officer noted that while he was speaking with the reporting party, he observed the dog running loose in the other man’s yard.
He then spoke with the dog owner, identified as Larry Kirksy Jr., 19, and advised him his dogs were running loose and that the neighbors were complaining.
Kirksy came outside and “grabbed a light color pit bull-looking dog and put it in the house and he then stepped out and grabbed another shepherd-like dog and put it in the house.”
He was issued a citation for having animals at large in violation of the city ordinance.

An officer was dispatched Nov. 24 to 24/7 in reference to a male sleeping in a white car.
The vehicle was noticed to be parked in front of the store with the engine running.
The male driver stated that he was going to his girlfriend’s house on A Highway, but was falling asleep and pulled over.
His information was run through dispatch, which confirmed he did not have any wants or warrants.
The officer advised the subject to leave the store, and he agreed to do so.

An officer was dispatched Nov. 24 to a residence on East Washington Street to investigate a three-year-old child found in the road unattended.
Upon arrival the reporting party was holding the child and stated he did not know her identity, only that he saw her in the road in front of his house.
The little girl was identified by photo and child protective services were called.
According to reports the responsible party was located, a 36-year-old female, who said she was babysitting the child and woke up to discover she was not in the house.
The woman said she had “just noticed the door was open” when she saw that authorities had been called.
