As February bids farewell and March ushers in the promise of spring, residents are grappling with unusually high electric bills.

Many have reported bills exceeding $600, raising concerns about how seniors and those on limited incomes will manage these expenses.

The struggle to balance paying for utilities and affording groceries has become a pressing issue for many in the community.

The community is mourning the loss of two beloved members, Velma Byrd and Carolyn Upshaw.

Velma was remembered as a wonderful and sweet lady, and condolences go out to her husband, George, and their family. Also prayers and support are extended to the family and friends of Carolyn Upshaw, including Phillip Smith. Both women will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved them.

The public is invited to participate in Bunco night on March 27 at 6 p.m., at the Ponder Community Center on Highway 142 West towards Gatewood. Bring a snack, finger food, or a covered dish to share.

Additionally, the community is reminded to prepare for the time change on March 9 and to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day on March 17.

Birthday wishes for my sons Mark and Matt Hudson, Hannah Matthew, Mary Jane Kennon, Stetson Chase, Lane Collins, Ethan Pittman, Jaushya Gribble and Leigh Brandon.

May you have a very blessed and happy birthday.
