The 2025 Local Quilt Shop (LQS) contest is underway, inviting communities to support their local quilt shops by voting for them online. The contest, which began on Jan. 25 and runs until Feb. 28, offers regional and grand prizes, including trunk shows, fabrics, and live features for the top-voted shops.
Among the participants is Current River Fabrics & Quilting (CRFQ) in Doniphan, which celebrated Local Quilt Shop Day on Jan. 25 with a sneak peek of the 2025 All Missouri Shop Hop and samples of upcoming class projects.
CRFQ is not only a contender in the LQS contest but also a hub for learning and creativity. On Jan. 28, the shop will host two classes on basic bakers’ aprons, available from 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.
February brings a variety of classes, including a market/tote bag class on Feb. 1, a beginner crochet class on Feb. 4, and sessions on making microwave/ice cream bowl holders on Feb. 7 and 8. Later in the month, participants can learn to make an infinity scarf on Feb. 18 or 25 and a purse on Feb. 22.
For those interested in joining these creative endeavors, a full printed schedule is available at CRFQ, located at 107 Washington Street in Doniphan.
Early enrollment is encouraged by calling 573-996-1888. The shop is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
