Stewart Celebrates 35 Years: Another Milestone At Smothers Chiropractic Center

On Wednesday, Smothers Chiropractic Center in Doniphan celebrated a special milestone as Sheri Stewart, the office manager, marked 35 years of dedicated service.

Stewart began her journey with the center on Jan. 15, 1990, just one day before the center’s first anniversary. Over the years, she has become a cornerstone of the practice, known for her humor, dedication, and strong relationships with patients.

Stewart, originally from Central City, Iowa, moved to Doniphan four years after graduating and has since become a beloved figure in the community.

Stewart has been married to her spouse, Bruce for 20 years and together they have three adult children and four grandchildren.

Her role at Smothers Chiropractic Center has evolved over the years, with her primary responsibilities now including office management and insurance billing. Stewart fondly recalls the relationships she has built with patients, some spanning five generations. “You get attached as you get to know the patients, and it is heartbreaking when you lose one,” she shared.

Dr. Loren Smothers, praised Stewart’s dependability and her ability to keep the office running smoothly. “Sheri is dependable, she does a great job and keeps it running,” Smothers said.

Stewart’s colleagues described her as a “go-getter” who is loyal, humorous, and full of antics, often bringing laughter to the office.

Stewart also can be described by patients with pet names that include; Princess, Rami (short for ramrod) and Blonde (from all the patients that share blonde jokes with her on a regular basis).

Stewart’s commitment to her work and her patients is evident in the heartfelt stories she shares. One memorable moment involved discovering a connection with a patient (who was from Iowa) who had rented to her parents when her father was in the Army.

Such stories highlight the deep bonds Stewart has formed over her 35-year career and with no plans to retire there is plenty of time to add to the reservoir.
