This article reflects on the personal connection between individuals and God, highlighting how biblical figures, despite their imperfections, were known and used by God. It encourages readers to deepen their relationship with God through scripture, church, and sharing the Gospel.

Pastor Kent Wilfong

I love reading the Bible. It has poetry and history. It offers philosophy and advice on living. Everyday new archeological discoveries are being made that support and prove the truth of the Bible. But most of all I love reading the Bible because God wrote it for you and me.

Jeremiah 1:4-5, “Now the word of the Lord came to me saying, Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you and before you were born, I consecrated you…”

Now, granted, God was talking to Jeremiah and appointing him to be a prophet to His people. But that very first part is true for each of us. God knows us. He knew us even before we were born. He knew us before we were even in our womb. He knows us now.

Throughout the Bible, we are reminded that God knows us. He continually shows us how even the smallest and weakest can be a leader or a preacher. The Bible reminds us that no matter our past, God will use our future. I am reminded of Gideon who argued that he was from the smallest tribe, or Moses who pointed out his speech impediment.

The people used by God were not the greatest, nor the best. David had issues. Solomon had issues. We can keep naming names, and not one was perfect. When we get to the disciples, we find real people. Keep in mind a saint is never a saint while they are alive. All the Apostles were characters, and they weren’t squeaky clean, they were people. Yet God knows them.

Or Paul, who was executing and imprisoning believers. Yes, the same one who as a Jewish Pharisee was called Saul, would convert to following Christ and take on the name Paul. He did not start off as the perfect saint, yet God knew him.

God knows you. He knows what you are going through and what you have been through. He is quite aware of what you are capable of, and what your weakness is. He knows your past and He sees your future. Yes, the same God who created the Universe, knows even Kent Wilfong on a first name basis.

Which is more reason why we need to get to know Him more. Church is a place where we can start to learn who God is and why He loves us. It’s there that as we dig deeper, we also deepen our relationship with God. He knows us, so why not get to know Him.

It really isn’t that hard. Start with the Bible and read, then go to church and listen. Start attending bible studies and learn. But if you really want to get to know God, then start sharing the Gospel with others.

Because the more you share the Word, the more you learn about God.

If that sounds too good to be true, try it and you will see. Meanwhile Pray.

Just a thought

Shalom My Friends and I hope to see you in church.
