Judith Elaine Tompkins, a dedicated educator from Three Rivers Community College, passed away at 72. Known for her kindness and passion for learning, she is survived by her siblings and remembered fondly by her community.

Judith Elaine Tompkins, 72, departed this life Monday, Jan. 6, 2025. She was born Nov. 28, 1952, in Doniphan, to the late Phillip and Emily (Thompson) Brooks.

Judy worked in education, running the computer lab at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff. Her passion for learning was evident in her commitment to her students and in her own pursuit of knowledge, earning a master’s degree to further her education. Judy had a kind and generous heart, always searching for ways to help others, whether by donation or a personal act of kindness. She loved roses, and they always seemed to brighten her day.

Surviving are her sisters, Susan Mathis of Fairdealing and Phyllis Huber of Viola, Ark., and brothers, Mark Brooks of Boomer, N.C. and Daniel Brooks of Doniphan.

Judy was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Brasser. She was also preceded by two brothers, Dennis Brooks and Tim Brooks.

Visitation was held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, Jan. 9 and the funeral service followed. Pastors Debbie and Oscar Roberson officiated. Burial was at Fairview Church of God Cemetery.
