Bruce Brandon, a beloved 87-year-old resident of Doniphan, passed away on January 23, 2025. Known for his work with the US Corps of Engineers, he cherished hobbies like knife collecting and gardening.

Bruce Gordon Brandon, 87-year-old resident of Doniphan, departed this life Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025. He was born Sept. 23, 1937, in Scottsboro, Ala. in the Cumberland Mountains, to the late Thomas Berry and Flora Alvirn (White) Brandon.

Bruce’s work for the US Corps of Engineers out of Wappapello kept him busy, but he always found time for his many hobbies. He had a love for collecting knives, playing the harmonica, and hunting. He also spent countless hours buying, selling, and trading goods with a particular fondness for searching the flea markets for hidden treasures. His green thumb showed in his gardening where he reveled in the fruits of his labor when it was time to harvest his produce.

On Aug. 4, 1971, in Van Buren, Mo., Bruce married Judy Snider, and she survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Tracie (Spencer) Turner of Doniphan and a son, Michael (Tanya) Ragain of Licking, Mo.; one sister, Bennie K. Buckner of High Springs, Fla.; a brother, John Flynn of Doniphan; grandchildren, Jimmy O’Neal, Heather Roper, Jacob Turner, Zachary Ragain, Matthew Ragain, and Michelle Crosby; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by adult siblings, Pearline Taylor, Martha Cornelison, Thomas Brandon, and Marvin Brandon; and seven infant siblings. He was also preceded by a grandson, Colton Turner, and a great-grandchild, Harlow Parsons.

A graveside service was held Sunday, Jan. 26, at 1:30 p.m., at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Briar with Bruce Williams officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Oak Ridge Church of God.
