Circuit Thoughts
Can we talk? I know that is a strange way to open an article, but I truly want to discuss something with you. It’s about your salvation. This is not a subject many will want to have or read about, but it is a subject that lies at the heart of Christianity. The first question is, are you saved.
Ephesians 2:8, “For it is by grace that you have been saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is a gift of God.” Salvation is not something we do, but what Christ does for us. The growth in Christ afterwards (sanctification) is what Christ does in us. But all this is moot if we don’t have faith. “Saved through faith”. Notice the scripture says through faith, not with faith. Faith is not an ingredient of a recipe. Faith is more of a road we must follow. Which leads to the second question; How are you living your faith?
Faith is what allows us to travel and act upon our salvation. Our faith leads us to activity, decisions and behaviors that proclaim our commitment to Christ. Salvation is not something we have; it is something we live. I think we often forget this.
I know, this sounds more like a sermon than an article, but folks, this is important. If we are not acting on our salvation, then we are not saved. Salvation is a dynamic thing, not a passive educational response. Christ saves us so we can lead others to Christ so Christ can save them so they can lead others to Christ… do you see the pattern here? We are part of something that is beyond our imagination, we are part of the Kingdom of God.
Our salvation also transforms us to being more. “Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2) Salvation is the start of the transformation.
We are not meant to be simply receivers of grace. We are meant to be doers of the word. (James 1:22). This also means we are not meant to just sit back and relax after we are saved. This is not the lottery, where we can quit our job after winning. Salvation lays on us more responsibility. That responsibility is leading others to Christ.
This is not a cross to bear. Sharing Christ should be a true joy. Knowing you have something that will change people’s lives FOREVER, should be a happy thing. It is not a chore to share the Gospel of Christ, it is an absolute privilege. The privilege of sharing in the Kingdom with the Son of God is meant to elicit a desire to bring others to Christ. Anyone who is saved is called to service in building the Kingdom. Salvation is an active thing, and our lives, habits and behaviors should show it.
So, the question, after all of this is still; Are you saved?
Just a thought.
Shalom my friends. See you in church.
