Rebecca Sutton

Rebecca Lois Severs Sutton, 88, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 8, 2024. Lois was born April 8, 1936, in Oxly, to the late Leslie and Opal Russell Severs.

Lois graduated from Doniphan High School in 1954 and Arkansas State University with high honors. She was a school teacher by training, starting in a one-room school house where she taught every subject and every grade. Her great loves were teaching, reading, and the St. Louis Cardinals. Her annual goal was to read the Bible through each year – which she accomplished many times. Lois was a member of the Okean Free Will Baptist church. She spent her adult life as a mother, stopping her career to be a stay-at-home mom (which she excelled at). She may not have earned a paycheck, but she was the hardest-working, non-paid employee of the garden, the church, and her family. Heaven became even sweeter when our precious mom met Jesus face to face, and we look forward to the day we too will be reunited with her, our dad, and our Heavenly Father.

Preceding her in death was her husband Everett Lee Sutton, sister Goldia Ruth Wright (Bill), and brothers Sam Severs, and George Daniel Severs (Pat). Gary Sutton, her loved son by marriage and faithful phone-caller to her almost daily.

Lois is survived by her daughters Dana Sutton and Tanya (Mike) Miller both of Jonesboro, Ark. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly as well as extended family.

Visitation will be held 10–11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with Craig Miller officiating. Burial will be held following services in the Sutton Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Roger Severs, Wink Henson, Chris Henson, Gary Lee Sutton, Brandon Sutton and Randy Ring.

Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Johnson and Dennis Severs.
