It was a nice surprise to have two lady visitors present in worship services at Handy Church last Sunday morning. They were Caroline Pickens, the daughter-in-law of Ivan and Billy Sisco; and Madelyn, who is Caroline’s daughter. Both women reside in Kansas City. Unfortunately, however, we missed two others who attend services here regularly that missed that day: one was Christi Kirby, who stayed home due to the accidental injury of her husband Robert, who suffered two broken ribs due to a timber accident and the other was Vicky Elliott.

We are very disappointed to learn of Robert’s injury, as it seems to have been quite painful. However, we are extremely thankful that it was not life-threatening and are praying for a swift recovery. Robert is very dear to all of his extended family and friends.

The regular monthly singing, held last Friday evening at our church, was well attended with several present from distant areas. Included in the latter group were some from the Arkansas Davis family. The Davis family will be singing at the Food Truck Festival in Van Buren on June 25 at 10 a.m.

We send a big “thank you” to Jerry Blackshear and three of his sons who “showed up” at Johnny Davis’s home at Handy last Saturday morning and spent several hours at various farm jobs to “bail him out” after he had fallen behind on his work due to a long siege of poor health. Johnny was so thankful to have such a gracious lot of help when he needed it so badly. We all (Johnny’s extended family) add our loving thankfulness as well. May God richly bless the whole Blackshear family (Jr .and Anita included) for their kindness.

It is with sad hearts that we report the death, of yet another member of the Probst family. It was reported to us that Bart Probst of Colorado, the youngest son of Eugene Probst (deceased and formerly of Handy) passed away this past week. Although we haven’t seen Bart for many years we loved him and his siblings immensely and pray that they will be comforted in knowing that we care and that our Heavenly Father does as well.
