It was a surprise blessing to have an unexpected visitor in worship services at Handy Church last Sunday morning. It was 4 year-old Chase Elliott, grandson of Vicky Elliott and great-grandson of Laverne Cothren, who both accompanied him that day. Chase was disappointed that Cole Watson was absent that morning, but was brave enough to replace him to pass the kids offering container in his stead, with accompaniment by his grandmother Vicky.
Chase and Vicky also ‘stood in’ for Cole to sing “Jesus loves Me” and we are very proud of him and look forward to a return visit from Chase.
It was disappointing that Ivan and Billy Sisco and Polly Sisco were absent from the services. Unfortunately, Polly had fallen earlier that day while preparing to take a shower. While she was thankfully not injured, Ivan’s efforts to assist her in recovering (along with help from Joe Watson) resulted in both being unable to get ready on time. (Also, Ivan’s wife Billy was sick and missed the service as well). However, we are indeed thankful that Polly recovered from the incident with no injuries, and we hope she will be back in her usual seat at Handy Church next Sunday.
Cole was sorely missed from the meeting. He had spent the previous night with his older brother Landon. Landon Watson, his son Kannon and Kannon’s mother Addison of Arkansas visited with relatives (Joe, June, Audrey, Mickey, Kasie, Kelli and Bonny Davis) all of Doniphan last Saturday afternoon and returned home that evening.
Best wishes for a very Happy New Year to everyone!
