Greetings from Dixie Ridge. I hope you had a happy and safe Thanksgiving. I have so much to be thankful for including family and friends.
My grandson, Dylan’s Westside High School team played in the playoffs last Friday night and won against Hamburg, Ark. The score was 35 – 20 and they will play Robinson High School this Friday night. Dylan is the son of Mandy and Joey Graham of Egypt Arkansas.
Ordell and Doris Gibson had visitors from Kansas City last week from Monday until Thursday. November is the month of several birthdays so they celebrated all of them. Doris’ sister Dorothy Meiners was born Nov. 3, 1920, niece Rita Oglesby Nov. 12, 1952, daughter Joanie Lowery Nov. 19, 1956, Doris’ mother Esther Self, Nov. 20 1894, Ordell’s brother Ordway Gibson, Nov. 26, 1931 and great granddaughter Kelsey Lowery on Nov. 3, 2016. Hester and Waif Griffin joined the group for lunch of roasted chicken and the works. The afternoon was spent visiting and taking pictures. They celebrated on Esther Self’s birthday. On Tuesday, Dorothy and Rita took them out for a Chinese dinner in Doniphan and they drove around remembering how the town has changed since they were there last. All too soon it was Thursday and they had to return to Kansas City. They were all grateful for the good weather. They were not able to attend the Sonshiner’s Dinner at Emmanuel Baptist Church, but Ordell and Doris went. They meet every third Thursday and had 35 present.
The Christmas play at New Hope Baptist Church has been changed to Dec. 22 at 5 p.m. Please make plans to attend as it will be a great message with refreshments and fellowship afterwards.
