John King
John Floyd King, 67-year-old resident of Grandin, departed this life Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025. He was born June 4, 1957, in Fort Lee, W. Va., to Ida Anita (Webb) Quinton of Poplar Bluff, Mo, and the late John L. King.
John was a skilled tradesman, having worked as a steeplejack for International Chimney and also as a tuckpointer with Tom’s Tuckpointing. He was a member of the Bricklayers Union and Laborers Union. Known for his adventurous spirit, John had a love for fast rides. Whether he was riding in his 4-wheeler or driving his 4-wheel-drive truck, he was enjoying the adventure. John also valued the quiet moments in life, hanging out with his dog, Mojo, and immersing himself in woodworking. Fishing and hunting were also favorite pastimes.
John cherished his family, and his grandchildren were a constant source of pride and joy in his life. He could often be heard bragging about them. John attended Good Hope Church.
Surviving is his daughter, Kasey (Donnie) Davis of Ellsinore; stepchildren, Kayla Pruett of Poplar Bluff, and Kyle Tipton of Grandin; four sisters, Brenda (John) Hancock of Ellsinore, Lena (Randy) Nance of Grandin, Lorna (Jerry) Williams of Poplar Bluff, and Cathy King of Grandin; and his brothers, Dennis King and Richard King, both of Grandin. Also surviving are his grandchildren which includes two granddaughters, Zoie and Trinity Davis and grandson, Caleb (Casey) Davis and Bryce Jessop and three great-grandchildren, Paislee Davis, Jordan Davis, and Harley Davis.
In addition to his dad, John was preceded in death by Bob Quinton, his grandparents, Herbert and Georgia Webb and Kathryn Babich and Richard King, and a brother, Steve King.
Visitation will be in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, Jan. 24, beginning at 11 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. His son-in-law, Donnie Davis, will be officiating, and burial will be in McRone Cemetery.
