Dennis Jones

Dennis Eugene Jones, 70, of Columbia, Mo. departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024. Dennis was born on May 11, 1954, in Walnut Ridge, Ark. to the late Jack Lee Jones and Wanda Evalee Jones (Griffin). He lived in Doniphan growing up and graduated from Doniphan High School in 1972.

In 1973, Dennis joined the Navy for a short period of time. He spent 26 years as a corrections officer with the Missouri Department of Corrections where he retired in 2012.

Dennis was a family man first and foremost and treasured all six of his sons and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a very witty personality that will be missed by all. He loved to spend his time hunting, fishing and was a fabulous cook.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Agnes “Aggie” Jones of Columbia. His sons, Dennis “Denny” (Tracy) Jones of Doniphan, Jonathan (Erin) Murphy of Ballwin, Mo., Tommy (Dawn) Jones of Blue Springs, Mo., Brandon Jones (Katie Bubac) of Ashland, Mo., Jason Jones (Kimberly Reed) of Hallsville, Mo., Justin Jones (Stephanie Knight) of Columbia. Sister Mary (Ike) Stokes of Shiloh, Ill., Jim “Bodean” Jones of Doniphan, sister-in-law Brenda Jones of Sikeston, Mo.

Grandchildren, Sydnee (Taylor) Holland, Kyle (Caitlin) Jones, Myah Jones, Marcus Murphy, MacKenzie Murphy, Adam (Chyann) Fraizer, Ashlee Fraizer, Sarah Jones, Kason Jones, George Jones, Hadleigh Jones, Deanna Jones, Grayson Jones, Aubrey Jones and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack “Jackie” Jones and sister Sue Murphy.

Visitation will be at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 1:00 - 2:00 pm with services following at 2:00 pm. There will be a celebration of life in May 2025 in Doniphan, MO.
