Time to say, “Goodbye” to July and “Hello August,” and for the Ripley County Fair. I loved going to the fair and working in the Boy Scout booth. Yes, that was many years ago that the scouts had a booth. We sold ears of corn at the fair. Then there was the truck pull. Tuesday evening Brigette Barton and Kenzie Hall spent the night with Aunt Sharon Hastings. It has been a long time since young ones have spend the night at my house, much less, had things for young ones to snack on. I don’t keep snacks at my house. I did enjoy having them, and they are supposed to come back and spend the night on Friday night.

I want to also say a big “Thank you” to my homemaker, Ashley Barnett, for helping me make some homemade salsa. I have tomatoes to make more as soon as they get a little riper.

Ashley and the girls also helped me grate about seven - 4-cup bags of zucchini which is now ready for making zucchini bread. All I have left to do is make the box of tomatoes into salsa. I have one son who likes the milder salsa and two who like the hotter salsa.

I am so thankful I had a grandmother who taught me to can. More importantly being able to do this for my sons and their families and for other families and friends. Plus, my mother and grandmother taught me to sew and make quilts.
