Today is the first day of December and the start of the countdown to Christmas. I think I have gotten all of my Christmas decorating finished. The tree is up and all the decorating that I will be doing is done. Now to work on Christmas cards. I am very old fashioned and love to send out cards to friends and family. No cards by phone or text. I love to get my mail and find cards in the mailbox from family and friends. So if you want to send me a card send it to Sharon Hastings, 8336 US Hwy. 160W, Doniphan, MO 63935. Be sure to put your address on it so I can send you one.

The Massey family had a family Thanksgiving and 43 people showed up for the family meal. Louellen Massey Hutton, said that sis. Mary and Alan Oakley came the farthest and came from Perry, Okla. Local sister and two brothers Carolyn Hamlette, Ronnie and Henry Massey were the only ones who were not able to come. Louellen said “thank you,” to everyone who came to the dinner and they all enjoyed a good family meal and visited with each other.

On Saturday, Nov. 26 I had my Thanksgiving dinner at my home. Those who came were my three boys, Doug and Michelle Mandry from Mayfield, Ky., Mark and Heather Hudson, grandson Cooper from Advance, Mo., and Matt Hudson of Doniphan.

I spent Friday baking desserts and the rest of the meal early Saturday morning. More than likely this will be my last big Thanksgiving meal that I will be fixing. Don’t get me wrong, I totally love to cook and cook for my family. Times are changing, plus trying to get all the family together is getting harder to do and everyone has their own family and life doing what they want to do.

I enjoyed a visit from Roy Marsh, my daughter-in-law Heather Marsh Hudson’s dad. Roy is getting over and doing really great from having knee surgery. We will keep you in our prayers that you stay on a good road of recovery.

Faith Life Christian Church will be having their children’s Christmas program, on Dec. 11, Sunday School starts at 10 a.m. and morning service is at 11. The children’s program will start around 10 during the Sunday School time.

Lord, prayers that those around us will remember that Jesus is the reason for the season. All the gifts under the tree is not what will get you into heaven, it is the gift that was on the tree. Lord, prayers that our church will fill in the celebration of your soon coming. Remember God loves you and so do I. Amen
