It is hard to believe in less than a month we will be celebrating Christmas. We should celebrate the Lord everyday, not just at Christmas. Jesus is the reason for the season. Kids today have no idea what it was like to only have two gifts under the tree. One would be a toy and the rest was always clothes. We always got new outfits for Christmas and Easter. We were blessed for what we did receive and thankful for it. Today children have no idea what hard times really are. So many, not only children but adults, are not at all thankful for what they receive. They just want more and more. Then when Christmas is over they no longer want what they got but they want more new things. Most of the time growing up, I always got a new doll to play with. My mother, Corinne Hastings made all my clothes. I am glad I grew up in the time that I did. More respect was shown then than what is shown today.
It was very sad to hear of the passing of Jack Kernodle. To all of Jack’s family our prayers, love and support we give to you. Jack was a major part of the Gatewood community and will be greatly missed by so many.
There will be no Bunco for December. They will start up again in January 2023. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all who come out and enjoy playing Bunco.
I am very much looking forward to Saturday, Nov. 26. My family will be joining me for Thanksgiving. I love to cook and look forward to being able to cook for my family. It is hard to cook very much when it is just yourself. I hope all had a good and happy Thanksgiving.
Now, we begin to celebrate the reason for the season, the birth of our Lord Jesus. Pray that we remember, not the gifts under the tree, but what we should focus on: instead, the child that came to set us free, the one who gave his life on a tree. Lord, we pray that more will give thanks and share love the way you have with us. Father blessings for all as we enter into the celebration of your birth. In thy precious name we pray and remember God loves you and so do I. Amen.
