It was a nice surprise to have four year old Gwendolyn Gant present in morning worship services at Handy Church last Sunday morning. Gwendolyn (Gwennie) is the granddaughter of Karen Gant, who traveled to Van Buren Saturday morning and “fetched” her from her parents Caleb and Brittani Gant. She stayed with Karen that night and after attending church the next morning Karen took the child to meet her parents at Hwy. 60 so they could transport her back home. It was good for her to be accompanied by Audrey and Cole Watson, and the trio “made merry” with singing and laughing throughout the trip; then the Watson children accompanied Karen on back to their home near Doniphan.

We are pleased to report that Johnny Davis’ health has improved considerably during the past few weeks and he has been able to attend church regularly. We thank God so much for answered prayer on his behalf, and continue to beseech Him for even better improvement. Johnny is even gardening some, with help from his sister June and others.

A memorial service was held at the Big Barren Church on Saturday, July 16 for Zandra Cardenas. Zandra was the daughter of the late Jean Davis and granddaughter of the late Fletch and Mary Davis, all of whom resided in the Big Barren community at one time. We send our love and condolences to all her surviving family and trust God to comfort each one of them.
