Debi Reynolds traveled to Stafford, Mo. to help her granddaughter, Annah Downs, celebrate her 13th birthday on Saturday. She was also going to be baptized. Several family members were making the trip too. I’ll get “detailed” report next week after the fact or maybe the act.
Ryan Van Winkle had a meeting in Ellsinore recently and called me to see if he could visit to bring me up to date on a mutual interest. I said “of course” and he came by later in the day. We always have a good visit. He met my youngest sister visiting from Kansas and cleaning my house. She isn’t the only one that cleans for me when visiting. I like a clean house just not the constant redo that keeps it clean.
Alta Devore drove from Wichita, Kan. to accompany me on my trip to the Southeast Gulf states with USA Tours out of Rolla. It was a rainy, foggy windy day when we were to visit Lookout Mountain where seven states can be seen and “Stone Mountain” where the three southern generals are depicted in stone to match Mount Rushmore (plan to see that next year). We enjoyed an inside event instead. Were told how to make whiskey with a worker doing the job behind glass windows. We were served samples. Not everyone sampled but, it was interesting to see and hear about.
We had 10 days of travel and seeing interesting places. Had some wind and rain but, just keep traveling and seeing interesting things. It’s hard to choose what event we like best. The aquarium in Atlanta was very interesting. Several enjoyed the beach in Pensacola. One received a curve which affected others and ended in an interesting Uber ride back to the hotel where information was given for when you get a jellyfish sting. Several found shells and walked in the sand and water. We visited Graceland on another rainy day. I like my little scooter they furnish but, must travel in special bus for it and it quickly seems out of place in home tours. To me Graceland is a wasted life of money, seems nobody lives there. Memories of a broken life. I liked many of the songs Elvis sang I didn’t like all his twisting and wiggles. The museums were interesting, the displays (ship especially) were limited when you (I) don’t walk good.
We had fish at the Ellsinore Youth Center. I was surprised at the very low turn out. I saw only two carry-out orders. I miss the first Saturday delivery to my house. Understand lack of adult helpers prevents the deliveries.
Dwayne Wallace transacted business in Ellsinore Saturday and got our garage door working right while in town. Sometimes things work fine with a handshake and our word. This has been the case with Dwayne and me for several years, sad to say it’s not the case with many even relatives. They expect you to wait while they live life as they want, take trips and such while you wait on them to do what they said they would do months ago.
