Do you realize that in just a short month from now schools will be getting out for the summer? May 12 is Mother’s Day and Memorial Day weekend the end of May, which officially starts summer time fun and vacations. It always seems like from Halloween to Christmas seems so long. Then winter takes its slow time, But when we get into February the time seems to fly a little faster and before you know it, it is spring and summer. I have already been making calls to find out for sure when I can go get fresh strawberries from the berry farm. I always make strawberry jam every year. I hope I can stay on top of time for fresh fruits and vegetables. I also, always make homemade salsa except last year. It just seemed like I couldn’t get myself really into canning. I hope to do better at that this year. I am so thankful that my grandma Virgie and grandpa Harold Nickell taught me to can. So many have not got a clue to how important it is to learn to can, cook, and sew. Most think that it’s not the real thing unless you buy it already made at the grocery store. When you make it yourself it is made with love and you can add whatever you want and it still comes out right.
Bunco will be on April 25 at 6 p.m. at the Ponder Community Center on Highway 142 west. Bring a covered dish, snack or some type of finger food. They always have a meal before they start to play Bunco. So come on out and enjoy the fun and fellowship with your neighbors and play Bunco. See you there.
I hope you had a good Easter and that you remembered it was not the candy, Easter eggs, new clothes for church, or a big meal that make Easter special. It was how Jesus died on a cross for our sins and rose on the third day so that we could be set free from all sin. God loves you and so do I. May you all be blessed by His love and grace. Amen
