West Point Celebrates The Light On Darkest Night
West Point Pentecostal Church made good on its promise to "Light the Night" for trick-or-treaters Oct. 31. Crowds passed through two candy lines of decorated trunks, ate free hot dogs, popcorn and cotton candy, played in lighted foam and enjoyed carnival rides. The "Light the Night" message of Christ was evident in booth themes which showcased bumble bees with Bee Attitudes, Taco-bout Jesus Taco stands, "Miss Spirit of Liberty," "We need Smore of Jesus," and many others. Chuck Carr, pastor, stated that although many have pointed out to him that Halloween is generally a dark event, with the focus on witches and evil spirits, the church is not giving over even one night to that ideology. "We won't just stay in our homes. We will continue to celebrate the Light of Christ, as this night was originally intended," he said.
