Not quite a native Ripley Countian - she attended only her last year of high school in Doniphan though she taught in the R-1 system for 32 years - Teresa (Pearson) Lee delights in surprising readers and herself with anecdotal observations of life in general. Maybe you can blame her St.Louis roots for a quirky humor and some slightly-askewed opinions, but never doubt she writes from the heart.
Current River Writers - Drabble for October 2023

Sultry weather saturated the night. The fan faltered in the heaviness, pulling in rhythmic waves of sticky heat. Refusing to surrender to another twenty-minute sleep shift, more exhausting than wakefulness, I stepped onto the porch.
Suffocating in silent stillness, I let my eyes adjust to the darkness. The security light cast a mottled glow over the yard into the cemetery.
Musings of a familiar dream visitor asleep in the earth, who braved daylight to appear to another who sheepishly shared his vision, prompted my glance to his tombstone.
Another orange orb. A deliberate retreat. Investigation by daylight on the agenda.
(A drabble is a creation of prose with EXCATLY 100 words).
