Not quite a native Ripley Countian - she attended only her last year of high school in Doniphan though she taught in the R-1 system for 32 years - Teresa (Pearson) Lee delights in surprising readers and herself with anecdotal observations of life in general. We never seriously dwelled on what the ‘sign’ might be that the first to go had made it to the ‘other side.’ During random musings we knew it would not be from a butterfly or a cardinal. Both are common in this area. Even if more than the usual sightings occurred, neither of us would truly consider them as signals.
Once we reminisced about favorite childhood cartoons. Surprisingly, we both loved Bullwinkle. Simultaneously glancing at each other with similar amused expressions, we blurted, “A moose it is.” Our secret. Eighty-eight days ago he died. A moose just rang my doorbel
