Close To Home
Not quite a native Ripley Countian - she attended only her last year of high school in Doniphan though she taught in the R-1 system for 32 years - Teresa (Pearson) Lee delights in surprising readers and herself with anecdotal observations of life in general. Maybe you can blame her St.Louis roots for a quirky humor and some slightly-askewed opinions, but never doubt she writes from the heart.
Don't Rattle My Cage
Posted Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 8:35 AM
Don't rattle my cage, the sun is out.
Even a grownup kid my age loves the springtime, no doubt.
Don't rattle my cage, Mother Earth is shining,
I'm no longer in a quiet rage, for winter I'm not pining.
Don't rattle my cage, my cat is sunning.
I've been reading this one page, no need to take off running.
Don't rattle my cage, please, my temper has short range,
Waiting for the return of peace when adjusted to this darn time change!
Written for a March 2016 column in the PN.
