Cool!
“I will let it warm up a bit before I start mowing.” Wait...WHAT? Yep, I said that. Oddity for sure, feeling comfortable in a long-sleeved shirt or hoodie at the end of May. I could add, contrary to the norm, ”I will mow first in the sunny patches.”
Other curiosities this spring include: (1) My rose of Sharon tree died without warning. Last year it was lovely. (2) Most of my creeping phlox did not bloom this spring. It is green and growing but I really missed its lush rush of color. (3) Had I not needed to relight the pilot light on the ventless heater, I would have turned it on during the last weekend in May. (4) The cat turns around mid-dart when I open the door. I have brushed off most of his winter coat, so Scootertests the temp before sneaking outside, which is happening less right now. (5) Current River was not flooded during the Memorial Day weekend though (6) the lower temperatures curtailed river fun. (7) I’ve heard whippoorwills elsewhere, but where have ‘mine’ gone? I thought I would enjoy the serenade more since (8) my AC is still off and windows are open. (9) No snakes spied yet in my yard bordered by woods. (10) April showers wore out their welcome a while back. May is late with some of its blooming chores. June will be playing catch-up, so April’s wet antics need to get on out of here.
2020 taught me to accept that most is beyond my control. Feeling responsible for the cosmos is a fast-track to misery. The showers will dry up. Temps will rise. My AC will run and I will pay the bill. Here and now overflows with much to appreciate. I AM responsible for my attitude.
