As I Ponder What Will Be
Our November election is next week.
Into the future I cannot peek
But if I could, what would I seek?
Answers for all, peace for the meek.
It isn’t yet Halloween
As I ponder what will be seen.
News coverage has been keen,
American trust unusually lean.
By dawn’s early light
The day after election night,
Will we face added national blight?
With more violent chaos in sight?
Or will a kind of peace reign,
Our politics no longer bane.
Plans to erase piercing pain,
Putting justice in the fast lane?
RIght now it’s anybody’s guess.
Our nation seems such a mess.
I’m worried, I must confess.
I loathe this increasing distress.
Not all is the fault of pandemic.
Anti-everything is problematic.
Our actions must be strategic
To rise above issues systemic.
